Direct and Iterative FSI Coupling

The reciprocating compressor is a typical problem that is efficiently solved in 2-D using Direct FSI Coupling. This is because the Direct Coupling solution time is less than half the Iterative FSI coupling solution time. However, in 3-D the problem becomes much larger and is more efficiently solved using Iterative FSI Coupling due to memory and speed considerations.
