Question QI-004:
Why am I not able to run ADINA using the floating license?
Answer:
Note that the ADINA floating license is not supported on Compaq Tru64 Unix.
Some common problems:
- ADINA license server is not started.
On Windows XP/Vista/7, start the ADINA floating license server through
Start > Programs > ADINA System N.n > Floating License > License Server
If you cannot find the above shortcut, you can start the license server by directly
running the program loadls.exe from the %ADINAHOME%\Sentinel directory.
%ADINAHOME% is the directory where you installed the ADINA System.
On Unix/Linux, start the ADINA floating license server by running the command
lserv in the $ADINAHOME/slm directory.
$ADINAHOME is the directory where you installed the ADINA System.
cd $ADINAHOME/slm
./lserv
- No license password file or wrong name for license password file.
The floating license password file must be named "lservrc" with no
extension. It must be put in the directory %ADINAHOME%\Sentinel (Windows),
or $ADINAHOME/slm (Unix/Linux).
License Monitoring Utilities:
lsmon : (all platforms)
Retrieves information about all features currently licensed by the license
server and whether any features are used by the clients.
lsmon <license server>
WlmAdmin : (Windows only)
Monitors license features available on the license server and which clients are
using the features. This program runs with a graphical user interface.
%ADINAHOME%\Sentinel\WlmAdmin.exe
