System ID for Node-Locked License

This system ID is only applicable if you are using the ADINA node-locked license. If you are using the ADINA floating license, please see the next section.

If you have the ADINA System CD, please skip this section. The file adhostid (Unix/Linux) or Install (Windows) will be loaded onto your hard disk when you install the ADINA System.

The system ID of your computer is required for obtaining the node-locked passwords to use the ADINA System. You may use the following commands (recommended when available) to obtain the system ID of your computer or use the adhostid (or Install) program that you can download here.

Note that you will need to use gunzip (Unix) or Winzip (Windows) to uncompress the downloaded files.

Platform Command Download
HP HP-UX uname -i adhostid
IBM AIX uname -m adhostid
SGI IRIX echo `/etc/sysinfo -s` 16op | dc

[Note the use of back quotes]
adhostid
Sun Solaris hostid adhostid
Linux Download adhostid for Linux adhostid
Windows NT/2000/XP If you are always connected to a network, you can use the following command.

[Look for the Physical Address under Ethernet adapter]

If you are not always connected to a network, please download Install.

System ID for Floating License Server

To obtain the system ID for the floating license server, you need to install the ADINA System on the license server machine first.

For Windows NT/2000/XP:
Run the echoid.exe command using

Start > Programs > ADINA System 8.4 > Floating License > Run EchoID

Send the Lock Code 1 to ADINA R & D to obtain the floating license password.

The floating password file must be named lservrc and placed in the %ADINAHOME%\Sentinel directory.

After the password file lservrc is placed in the %ADINAHOME%\Sentinel directory, you can start the license manager using

Start > Programs > ADINA System 8.4 > Floating License > License Server

For Unix/Linux:
Run the echoid.exe command in the <ADINA home directory>/slm directory.

cd <ADINA home directory>/slm
./echoid

Send the Lock Code 1 to ADINA R & D to obtain the floating license password.

The floating password file must be named lservrc and placed in the <ADINA home directory>/slm directory.

After the password file lservrc is placed in the %ADINAHOME%\Sentinel directory, you can start the license manager using the lserv command.

cd <ADINA home directory>/slm
./lserv

If you encounter problems running ADINA with the floating license, please see FAQ QI-004.
